The Week That Will Be

This week begins my last semester. Technically this is the third time it’s been my last semester, but for one reason or another there’s always been some requirement I’ve suddenly been lacking. At this point if I actually finish some time before I’m forty I’ll be ever so pleased.

I also have an eye doctor’s appointment. I desperately need a new pair of glasses as the ones I got last year have been pinching my nose to the point they are rubbing it raw. I’ve had them adjusted no less than four times and they still do it; I don’t know what the issue is.

Now that my (literally) shiny new computer is in the works, I’m looking at replacing my printers, which have both ceased to function within about a week of one another. I think I’m going to get a color laser-jet and I am strongly leaning towards this multifunction one.

My goal is to get the living room back in order so I can start cleaning out and organizing my office. Eventually I want to get a new desk, but I absolutely need a new desk chair and the sooner the better. Or so says my back, which has been protesting quite a lot lately and I suspect a good part of that is the colder temperatures. If nothing else, I am very stiff.

And aside from work, the only other notable thing is that Thursday is my mother’s birthday.

I know I’m being annoyingly vague about all the things going on here currently and I’m very sorry that I’m not going into more detail, but presently I’m just not comfortable announcing it to the whole of the Internet. I expect that will change shortly enough and I hope you all can respect that.

Anyway, things here are frantic. I kind of feel like I’m three days off from a final exam and only just discovered I have half a course’s worth of material to go over. It’s a whole combination of things and actually school stuff is part of it, though, strictly speaking classes don’t start until next week. I do at least have my books, which is something of a miracle. I’m in this weird place at work right now where nothing is going on but there are tons of things in the planning stages which will most likely be dropped in my lap because that’s just how things go. And I’m having a lot of inconsistent pain issues; not the least of which is a migraine that has been insistently lingering for the better part of a week.

Hmm . . . doesn’t all seem so bad when I write it out like that, but in any case I’m kind of trying not to let myself be overwhelmed by the many things that need to be done and the difficulty of figuring out exactly how to manage my schedule to accomplish this. Oh, and among the doctor’s appointments in the next few weeks I have one with the eye doctor coming up, which is always terrible in some way. I really need a new pair of glasses, though, because the ones I got last year have been adjusted no less than four times and they still pinch my nose to the point that my skin has been rubbed raw.

So, well, this was kind of a non-update. . . .

Another Sketch

Because I was a good little schoolgirl and finished my homework I gave myself some playtime in Photoshop:

Weekend Bullets

  • Jury duty will enter week three starting Monday. I won’t bother expressing my utter joy at this because apparently even my phone is sick of me.
  • My body is starting to protest all this sitting around. My back is in screaming agony and my left knee has been bothering me a lot. I had a doctor’s appointment regarding my on-going pain issues, but I had to reschedule it because of my endless jury Huey duty.
  • Also, whatever is making me sneeze in the courthouse seems to be affecting most of the other jurors, too who are all voicing issues ranging from similar itchy/runny noses to headaches.
  • Summer allergies are making Uschi a bit miserable. She’s very itchy and only picking at her food.
  • Our freezer broke. It’s under warranty so it was only a small nightmare to repair. Warranties don’t cover the $500+ of (smelly) food that was lost.
  • Roughly a month left before fall classes start. How the heck did that happen?
  • There’s been a lot of Twitter chatter about a possible vacation road trip. I can’t wait; it’s going to be epic! Though, at this point if we did everything that’s been mentioned we’ll be gone for 8 years.
  • I’m sure there was other stuff, but my ability to concentrate and remember things is totally shot of late. Huey, you suck.

Random Rundown

Apparently, I no longer blog about things. I mean, there are things to blog about, but I can’t seem to find either the time or desire to actually write them. Actually I’m not doing any better at any other online haunt so maybe it’s more accurate to say I just don’t bother with my computer for non-work or school things.

So, in no particular order here be some things going on around these parts:

  • Uschi had her yearly eye exam. Aside for being watery for no reason we can determine her eyes are completely healthy. The eye doc didn’t seem any more concerned than our vet about the watery thing since her eyes aren’t irritated and the discharge is clear. I was told to come back next year unless something changes. This was so much like my own eye doctor visits I had a moment where I thought perhaps I broke reality.
  • I finally broke down and read some of the DCnU comics. I am totally underwhelmed. What I read (mostly the new Batgirl, some Nightwing, Batman and JL) wasn’t bad. It was just…well, lacking.
  • I also watched Young Justice. Um. That was a mistake. I mean, it’s not as horrible as I thought it would be and I probably am not as disgusted with it had I watched it live. But much like the DCnU it has a lot of potential and it’s so not living up to it.
  • If that wasn’t enough to make me miss the DCAU something hard, I also discovered the new Batman series coming in 2013. It physically pains me to think about.
  • I’m taking Japanese this summer. The announcement of this on Facebook was met with far more intensity than I thought it would. I’m still not sure why. As it stands right now, I feel buried under the work. Probably because I’m currently a week behind. Oops.
  • I have been watching a lot of anime and reading a lot of manga, though. I count that as classwork even if no one else does.
  • Went to two cookouts this weekend. I think I’ve eaten my quota of food for all of June. Also, Uschi broke herself. And then got sick. But otherwise it was totally awesome.
  • A bird built a nest in the wreath on my front door. I was going to evict it, but then I discovered eggs and I couldn’t kill the unborn baby birds. All bets are off if any of them take a crap on my head, but so far they seem totally unfazed by the fact that their home randomly moves a few times a day. Uschi is mildly intrigued by their presence, but the bird hasn’t been stupid enough as yet to get close to her. It did fly in my house one day, though and that caused something of a crisis trying to shoo it back outside.
  • My dissertation has a due date. *panics*
  • Oh, my birthday happened. I was commandeered by some friends and had activities and foodstuffs thrust upon me. I also might have gotten a bit drunk. I don’t remember the drunk part so much, but the activities included a showing of Avengers and the foodstuffs were yummy. Then I came home and there were flowers waiting for me. All in all, it was pretty fun and it was a most gorgeous day, too.

My back is starting to make it known that I’ve been sitting here too long so I’m going to have to end this babbly stream of consciousness. I fully intend to post something proper one of these days, but when that might be is anyone’s guess.

Bye for now.
