Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!
This is too adorable for words:
If you’re wondering why I am suddenly seemingly obsessed with the Muppets and Sesame Street all I will say for now is that you’re just jealous that you can’t justify it as work and I can. (No, really.) But that’s a story for another day.
On another subject all together, mine is one of those streets that sort of competes with itself during the holidays:
Unlike most streets, though, it seems to be a competition for most obnoxious and gaudy. This house is a few doors down from me and I don’t think there’s a blow-up decoration available that they don’t have. Yara and Uschi both find the house quite peculiar and have had varying reactions to the huge, blow-up snowmen and company. I didn’t realize for quite some time that there are a few that are animated, too. Santa pops out of one of them and I think at least one of the snowmen waves.
There’s an addition this year of a camper-style RV and Uschi, frankly, finds it disturbing. The first time we came to the house since it was put out, she flatly refused to walk by it. A subsequent trip was only slightly better in that I didn’t have to walk around the block to get where I was going, but Uschi chose instead to growl at it menacingly.
ETA: It’s been almost a year and I’m still constantly calling the girls the wrong names, but this was the first post that I caught myself writing the wrong dog’s name. I’m now deeply curious if I’ve ever actually posted something unknowingly using the wrong name!
I love my new iPhone a lot, but I have to say that it does cause me some sporadic frustrations. Namely, it seems to randomly decide that syncing is an impossibility thus requiring me to run through a bunch of seemingly superfluous steps to get it to actually sync. Right now it won’t load my music or other media and the music app on the phone itself crashes when I try to load it. I should be wrapping gifts, but instead I’m fighting the strong urge to throw expensive electronic equipment at the wall.
Oh, well, here’s a video more appropriate to the time of year (and continuing with the theme of posting about the Muppets/Sesame Street):
Yes, I know I posted about the Muppets and Sesame Street yesterday, but apparently I’m on a Muppets kick and, well, I just can’t not share this video:
I first saw this little clip during the Muppet special that aired after Jim Henson’s death and I’ve always found it adorable beyond words. Doesn’t hurt that I’m particularly fond of Kermit and Cookie Monster gets a mention, but it’s the little bit at the end that just melts my heart. I’ve always found the unscripted moments with children to be the best part of Sesame Street. :-)
While trying to organize some of my closet space to better store my holiday decorations this year, I came across a CD of Muppet music. It’s a compilation of some of the most popular songs from the different television shows and films, including this one. This discovery led to me abandoning the organizing project to first import the music onto my iPhone . . . and then I poked around YouTube for clips of the Muppets and I came across this one. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen Big Bird sing this song before.
By the way, if you’re wondering, my personal favorites are “Rainbow Connection” and “Just One Person.” ;-)
My guide dog can stand on her head. It makes everything about me seem far less interesting . . . [further details]
