This week has some potentially huge things going on with regards to school. I forget how much I’ve blogged about this particular issue, so I apologize if I’m rehashing things said previously. Read more

“Oh goodness, look at my wrist!”

1. Received the DVD and soundtrack for Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. The musical commentary kills me. Seriously, go buy this. Now.

2. Yara had her last shot this morning. It went astonishingly fine. No crying. No fussing. Nothing. She just sat right there. I wonder if she knows it’s the last shot?

3. Mail is surprisingly fast sometimes. People all over are emailing and calling and texting to say they’ve received packages and cards. Now, if I banked on this one day thing no one would get anything, right? Speaking of mail, look what Raechel gave me! <3

4. Classes are over. Okay, they’ve actually been over. But it’s only just dawning on me. Three weeks of free nights and weekends, baby! What ever will I do with all this excess time?

5. Tomorrow I have some last minute holiday-type errands to run. Ran out of wrapping paper (omg!) and have one more thing to drop off at the post office. Also need to pack. Gah!

WordPress 2.7 & Other Stuff

1. Gentle Wit has been upgraded to WordPress 2.7, which is awesome and I love it. Probably I broke things. For now I don’t care, but if you do notice broken things and you do care best to let me know. Oh, one thing that’s new is threaded comments on posts. Check it out!

2. My final exam is done and officially submitted. I am completely drained from it and happy to not have to think about it ever again. Yay for me.

3. Apparently my dad has to work Christmas day, which I found out only because I called him today about something nearly unrelated.¹ “We’re celebrating on Christmas Eve,” he told me matter-of-factly. Problem is I have to work Christmas Eve. So, now I have to figure out when and how I’m going to my grandparents.

4. I’m going to bed. Night!

1. I called to let him know I’d remembered to go to Radio Shack and get my replacement battery for the camera as per his instructions last year with respect to the warranty he purchased.

Things are still terribly stressful, but kind of settling down. I’ve managed to deal with all the bills for the month, which is somewhat a relief. Fidelco informed me yesterday they’ll be sending me a month’s supply of Yara’s enzyme supplement free of charge. Of course, this is after I already bought a bottle from my vet, so it didn’t exactly put me ahead of the game. But every little bit helps. I’m quite literally finishing up my final exam for class right this moment and I’ve a few other things to get finished by the weekend and I’ll be all done for the semester. I’m hoping that my CSEA tuition reimbursement comes through quickly because another $650 would be nice right now especially since tuition is going up substantially as of Spring 2009.

For now, I’m just taking everything a day at a time. Which is saying a lot for me, you know. I’m all about the worrying thing and that tends to make it hard to put things aside and concentrate, but I’m doing my very best. The holidays speeding their way here is certainly a big distraction for me. Of course, that’s not to say I’m even remotely prepared for them. I still haven’t even started shopping (in part due to the fact I was stressing out about finances). I’ve yet to start decorating or baking and I’m only today finally getting the photos done for my cards. Hopefully they’ll be ready in time to send out!

Yara and I’ve been in the thick of holiday festivities, though. Last week was my unit’s Holiday Luncheon at Kirker’s Steak and Seafood. It was pretty fun getting out of the office for a few hours. I had some chicken thing that was stuffed with crab meat and it was so very good. And then for dessert the most awesome cheesecake! I was really proud that Yara wasn’t all crazy because Mike was there and she tends to loose her senses a bit around him. But she was wonderful, he arrived late and she did jump up when he walked in and after a pitiful whine, she was quiet the entire meal. Yesterday was the VESID Holiday Party. I spent most of the time with Donna helping her run the Blackjack table, but it was still a lot of fun. There was a ton of food and everything I had was so delicious. Lots of people brought in desserts, too. Mostly it was nice just getting away from my desk for a few hours.

Also, Sharon, Bryan and I finished the our reserved column in the Education Building. It looks very cute, I think, but I might be slightly biased since the column features Dolly’s Christmas stocking and a lovely photo of Yara. See for yourself. I actually took quite a few pictures of the decorated columns, even though not all of them were finished,¹ which you can see here. Our personal favorite is this one with the lit tree. The winners of the different prizes will be announced during the Holiday Reception next week.

Anyway, back to my exam.

1. The deadline is today.
